Professor Kuzio;

Your excellent analysis falls short in only one regard (IMHO); you are wrong, the President actually is as bad as you fear and that is the only reason sufficient to make sense of his actions.

That thin sheet of bed covers Yanukovic supplied with his claim of the imploring call from the President to not move on A.Y. does not protect from the cold reality... is not Baloha more convenient to reach (and secure help from)?

The country thought it owed a debt to Yuschenko (as he was poisoned in their defence). Wrong. The powers that did this were only moving on one of their own who was becoming uncontrollable. How quickly we forget he was a minor, then major Soviet apparatchick and Kuchma favorite. What a surprise it must have been to them that this action instead conferred Sainthood on him and resulted in the exact opposite of the intent (his election).

One can only hope the deranged obsessions responsible for his actions are the result of damage from that attack. The only other possiblities are even more frieghtening (could anyone so trusted really be that corrupt?).

Recently, he further tormented the PM about the debt to Gazprom. This action makes him the lap dog of Medvedev at the expense of every Ukrainian. It is as if he would gladly shout "Fire!" in a crowded theater hoping someone might trample "the Braided One's" toes without even momentary consideration of other lives that might be lost in the stampede. Perhaps he should be instead more interested persuing those who stole an election and tried to kill him.

There are many unpunished villians still influential and active in Ukraine. It is a surprise that one of the worst also is President. It is worthy tribute to the Ukrainian people that his support has so diminished.
